Anger is a normal feeling and can be a positive emotion when it helps you work through issues or problems, whether that’s at work or at home. It is like all the emotions that we feel in our life. It is a normal state which can lead to great realizations and changes in life or can do the exact opposite. This emotion helps you make a positive move in life is dealt with positivity.

However, anger can become problematic if it leads to aggression, outbursts, or even physical altercations. Its control is important for helping you avoid saying or doing something you may regret. Before it escalates, you can use specific strategies for controlling it. If it takes the wrong road of an outburst, aggression, or physical harm it can cause a number of health problems too. 1. Breathe Deep

Your breathing becomes shallower and speeds up as you grow angry. Reverse that trend (and your anger) by taking slow, deep breaths from your nose and exhaling out of your mouth for several moments. This will also reduce your stress.

2. Start Counting.

You must have heard this remedy n number of times, but never tried it. Counting down is a great way of forgetting what made you angry and lets your body feel better. You can count from 1 to 10 or from 100 to 1, with every dialogue your stress goes down.

3. Read out Some Mantra.

Find a word or phrase that helps you calm down and refocus. Repeat that word again and again to yourself when you’re upset. “Relax,” “Take it easy, and “You’ll be OK” are all good examples. Whenever you are feeling uneasy one of the best things to do is to repeat a word or a phrase. By doing this you tend to forget what was bothering you which all in all reduces your stress level.

4. Stop Talking

Having no control over your words when you are angry is quite obvious. Thus, in case you are annoyed over something, it’s better that you should stop talking. Most of the time staying mum works wonders. Preferring talking over staying quiet will do a lot of harm to you. When you’re steamed, you may be tempted to let the angry words fly, but you’re more likely to do harm than good. Pretend your lips are glued shut, just like you did as a kid. This moment without speaking will give you time to collect your thoughts.

5. Take a break.

Give yourself a break. Sit away from others. In this quiet time, you can process events and return your emotions to neutral. You may even find this time away from others is so helpful you want to schedule it into your daily routine. There is no better way to control your anger than taking a timeout. This break helps you process your actions in life, which way is your life leading and more. Taking a vacation can also be a good healing time.

6. Write down your thoughts.

What you can’t say, perhaps you can write. Jot down what you’re feeling and how you want to respond. 7. Listen to Music.

Let music carry you away from your feelings. Put in earbuds or slip out to your car. 10.  Imagine Forgiving them.

It is not necessary to react to every situation. Sometimes forgiving also works fine! In general, it takes a lot of courage to forgive anybody who has done wrong to you. But, if you can try and actually forgive them will help you soothe your nerves. If not, you can at least pretend to do so. Finding the courage to forgive someone who has wronged you takes a lot of emotional skill. 11. Choose empathy

Try to walk in the other person’s shoes and see the situation from their perspective. When you tell the story or relive the events as they saw it, you may gain a new understanding and become less angry. Understand the situations from other person’s perspective. When you will come to know about the incidence along with their point of view, you may help yourself to keep anger at bay. Stand in their shoes and recollect the incidence from a new viewpoint.
